Job description

GOAL: to lead our athletes, both in and out of the arena of competition and in a specific sport, increasing their knowledge of the sport, emphasizing good sportsmanship, partnering in their spiritual formation, equipping them to lead, and honoring the name of Jesus Christ.


Hired by: Athletic Director

Responsible to: Athletic Director, Assistant Athletic Director and Head Coach

Evaluation: Season end by the Athletic Director or Assistant Athletic Director

JOB DESCRIPTION - Essential Functions
  • Represent the school in a Christ-like manner

  • Maintain required documentation and credentials set forth by TOLCS and the OHSAA

  • Follows the lead and supportive of the Head Coach and Athletic Department

  • Receptive to mentoring from the Head Coach and Athletic Department

  • Assist the Head Coach organize and structure practices

  • Help coordinate travel of all team personnel to and from away games

  • Provide devotionals to team as assigned by Head Coach

  • Provide a positive, upbeat team atmosphere

  • Promote established team goals

  • Keep the athletic office informed of any changes in practice times and/or games

  • Keep the Head Coach informed of uniform needs

  • Keep the Head Coach informed of first aid needs

  • Keep the Head Coach informed of equipment needs

  • Provide for care and security of your sports balls and equipment

  • Help provide consistent communication to parents about practices, games, and special events

  • Keep open communication with parents and athletes

  • Promote sportsmanship of coaching staff, student athletes and spectators

  • Be proactive in preventing problems developing in relation to your team as related to the coaching staff, student athletes and their parents

  • Inform the Head Coach and Athletic Department of team issues, parental concerns, discipline of student athletes, etc.

  • Report scores of all varsity home contests as assigned by Head Coach

  • Promote Tree of Life athletics and its students by attending league, district and state meetings in coordination with the Head Coach

  • Seek membership in appropriate coaching associations

  • Nominate deserving athletes for league, district and state honors in coordination with Head Coach

  • Cooperate with school personnel
