Job description

Kendall Vegetation Services is hiring a Pre-Planner in South Bend, IN. The Pre-Planner is responsible for identifying and communicating with the customer, crew, and public regarding proper vegetation clearance. Previous professional experience is required to be considered for this role. Preferred candidates will be ISA certified.

Essential Functions:

  • Accurately identify dead and dying trees affected by drought and other environmental conditions.
  • Inspect overhead power lines for proper vegetation clearance.
  • Notify property owners of line clearance work to be performed.
  • Perform pre-inspection in advance of tree-trimming work.
  • Prepare concise and efficient work plans for client contracted utility vegetation crews within designated territory.
  • Inspect and assess customer work requests for trimming or removals.
  • Audit tree contractor’s work for compliance with client specifications and needs.
  • Assess and inspect objectives contributing to clear rights-of-way for new line and pole construction.
  • Assist in storm and emergency situations and other miscellaneous line clearance projects.
  • Communicate daily with the client, contractors, landowners, and public.
  • Perform duties in a manner that will promote and maintain good public relations.

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of industry-related hiring criteria is a plus.

  • Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities,

Physical Demands:

The Crew Leader enters and exits a vehicle numerous times per day. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when working with the work zone. The employee must be able to lift, move, and maneuver 30 pounds on average.

Required education and experience:

· Two years’ experience in Vegetation Management.

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Prior experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.

· Ability to read and understand contract requirements.

· Knowledge of botanical and common names of trees and plants.

· Possess a valid driver’s license and clean MVR.

Position requires employee to be able to pass a background check and drug screen as required for this job.

Must meet I-9 requirements.
