Job description

Our Finance team is responsible for ensuring accurate financial operations and plays a crucial role in managing the Firm's financial health. Our team handles a wide range of financial activities including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, taxation, partner compensation, payroll, treasury and cash flow management to support the Firm's strategic goals. We are responsible for inventory management including billing and collections, and analysis of client, matter and timekeeper profitability. We oversee statutory accounting and ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards. The Finance team also prepares financial statements, reports and analysis to provide insights into the Firm's financial performance. We work closely with other functions to monitor expenses, optimize financial processes and implement cost-saving initiatives. Through meticulous financial management and strategic planning, the Finance team ensures the Firm's financial stability and supports its growth objectives.

Position Summary

The Specialist, Treasury will be responsible for handling trust and escrow transactions, including global reporting on trust activity, compliance, reporting, reconciliations and maintenance of accounts across all relevant jurisdictions in which the firm operates. The role will also be responsible for processing and handling cash applications, including posting and analysis of incoming cash receipts, reporting and other related duties required to support treasury operations.

The individual will be required to work across multiple jurisdictions and understand the rules governing trust transactions in the jurisdictions in which we operate globally. The successful candidate must possess exceptional written and oral communication skills, be able to multi-task in a high-paced environment and be highly detail oriented.

Duties and Accountabilities

  • Processing and handling of trust and escrow disbursements and receipts

  • Monitoring and posting of client receipts

  • Preparation of monthly trust reporting for management

  • Assist with audit requests (internal and external)

  • Ad-hoc account analysis and reporting

  • Liaising with the global finance teams, as appropriate

  • Maintain and update training and process documentation

  • Monitor and ensure transactions are compliance with global and statutory policy and protocol

  • Preparation of variance analysis on the management accounts

  • Liaising with the global finance teams, as appropriate

  • Other reasonable duties as the business requires

Qualifications

  • Communicate with and respond to project requests in a timely, courteous and professional Bachelor's degree

  • 5 - 10 years of law firm experience preferred

  • Ability to multi-task and work-well in high paced environment

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint

  • Excellent communication skills - written and oral

  • Exceptional determination, self-motivation and interpersonal skills and resolve

  • Experience of Elite 3E is advantageous
