Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, analytical, and self-directed Senior Corporate Finance Associate to join our growing team. This role leads the corporate finance team’s financial modeling and strategic planning efforts, with a focus on evaluating and executing equity and debt financing activities, capital structure strategy, and long-range liquidity planning.

The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in upstream oil and gas finance, hands-on transaction execution across debt and equity capital markets, and the judgment to translate complex analysis into clear recommendations for senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Corporate Financial Modeling & Capital Structure Analysis

  • Support and assist in enhancing the corporate financial model, including scenario and sensitivity analysis across commodity price, production, and capital spending assumptions

  • Model and evaluate debt and equity financing alternatives, including impacts on leverage, liquidity, cost of capital, and covenant headroom

  • Perform variance analysis to explain changes in liquidity, working capital, and operating cash flows, and translate findings into actionable insights

  • Lead ad-hoc analysis for senior leadership, including returns analysis, capital allocation trade-offs, and financing decision support

  • Strategic Planning & Capital Allocation

  • Drive the long-range planning process, integrating development plans, hedging strategy, and financing assumptions into a cohesive corporate outlook

  • Develop capital allocation frameworks and recommendations across debt reduction, reinvestment, and shareholder return alternatives

  • Prepare board, management, and stakeholder materials supporting strategic and financing decisions

  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Partner with Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, and Reservoir Engineering to align planning assumptions and outputs

  • Equity & Debt Financing Execution

  • Lead execution workstreams for financing transactions, including RBL redeterminations and amendments, term debt and securitized financings, and equity or equity-linked raises

  • Prepare lender, rating agency, and investor materials, including bank presentations, borrowing base support, and marketing data rooms

  • Coordinate with external advisors, legal counsel, and lender groups through diligence, documentation, and closing

  • Evaluate financing implications of A&D activity, supporting valuation, due diligence, and lender notification processes for acquisitions and divestitures

  • Debt Compliance & Credit Agreement Administration

  • Oversee ongoing compliance under the company’s financing agreements, including covenant calculations, compliance certificates, and required lender deliverables

  • Review borrowing base data and production/hedge reporting prepared by junior team members

  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with Accounting to ensure alignment between financial reporting and covenant calculations

  • Leadership & Process Improvement

  • Mentor and review the work of corporate finance analysts, providing guidance on modeling standards and deliverable quality

  • Identify and implement opportunities to make reporting, modeling, and planning processes more efficient, consistent, and scalable

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field

  • 3–7 years of experience in corporate banking, corporate finance, leveraged finance, or energy finance, with direct exposure to debt and/or equity transactions

  • Advanced financial modeling skills, including three-statement, scenario, and capital structure modeling; expert-level Excel proficiency

  • Working knowledge of credit agreements, covenant structures, and reserve-based lending

  • Proven ability to manage complex workstreams independently, synthesize analysis for executive audiences, and lead cross-functional efforts

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience preparing board- and lender-quality materials

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience executing upstream or midstream oil & gas financing or A&D transactions

  • Understanding of energy-specific capital markets, including RBL facilities, high-yield debt, PDP securitizations, and structured finance instruments

  • Experience interfacing with lenders, rating agencies, or institutional investors

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deal-oriented environment and mentor junior team members
