Job description
A career as an Associate, Execution with the National Client Group, Western Canada means joining a high-performing team dedicated to delivering relevant and timely financial solutions that support the growth of some of Canada's leading businesses. We are collaborative professionals who work together to provide financing solutions to large private companies, public corporations and private equity-backed businesses across a broad range of industries.

You will further develop the technical expertise and credit judgment required to manage increasingly complex financing opportunities.
This position represents the first fully accountable Credit Execution role within National Client Group, Western Canada and provides the opportunity to further develop the underwriting, execution and credit judgment skills required to progress into more senior positions. Working hours are dictated by portfolio and transaction demands under a hybrid work environment with both days in the office and at home. Occasional travel for client and team meetings will be required.
Your Job:
- Assume primary underwriting responsibility for an assigned portfolio of clients, including annual review completion, covenant monitoring, risk rating maintenance, portfolio quality assessments and identification of emerging credit risks.
- Support National Client Group, Western Canada team members (Execution and Relationship Management) in managing and growing a portfolio of relationships across both bilateral and syndicated lending mandates while supporting broader team initiatives.
- Independently prepare credit analysis, financial models, borrower risk ratings and underwriting materials for annual reviews, renewals, amendments and new lending opportunities.
- Perform detailed financial analysis, cash flow assessments, capital structure reviews and borrower performance evaluations to identify key risks, develop well-reasoned underwriting recommendations and prepare comprehensive credit submissions in support of new lending opportunities, amendments, annual reviews and other portfolio requests.
- Present and defend credit recommendations to Credit Risk Management while incorporating feedback into transaction structures and approval materials.
- Participate in transaction structuring discussions involving leverage, covenant design, collateral packages and other credit risk mitigation measures.
- Manage assigned transaction workstreams, including financial analysis, due diligence coordination, borrower risk assessments, internal approval materials, documentation review and closing support.
- Work closely with advisors, private equity sponsors, legal counsel and internal banking partners (including Loan Syndications, Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, Treasury, Derivative Solutions and M&A) to execute financing transactions and complete required due diligence activities.
- Maintain ongoing dialogue with clients and internal stakeholders regarding financial reporting requirements, covenant compliance and portfolio monitoring matters.
- Work collaboratively with, and provide day-to-day guidance to, Analysts on financial analysis, portfolio monitoring activities and preparation of credit-related materials.
- Leverage Excel, Copilot and other productivity tools to improve analytical quality, underwriting efficiency and transaction execution processes.
Your Team:

Our team distinguishes itself through its expertise in complex financing transactions, strong client relationships and collaborative approach to delivering tailored banking solutions. - Experience managing annual reviews, amendments, renewals and ongoing portfolio monitoring responsibilities.
- Ability to analyze complex information and formulate well-reasoned credit recommendations.
- Strong written communication skills with an ability to prepare clear, concise and well-reasoned credit submissions and recommendations.
- Demonstrated proficiency using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Copilot and other productivity tools to support financial analysis, credit underwriting, portfolio management and transaction execution.
