Job description

Dietary Aides/ Tray Aides
Full - time
Responsibilities
  • Prepares therapeutic desserts and salads as required
  • Serves meals in the health center pantries
  • Sets up tables in the health center dining room(s) and breaks them down after the meals
  • Transports hot and cold foods to and from the health center pantries
  • Transports all required non-food items to and from the health center pantries
  • Washes silver, glass, china in dish machines in pantries as per regulation
  • Provides health center snacks and supplements per diet orders
  • Maintains stock and sanitation levels in coffee and juice machines in dining rooms
  • Sets tables and maintains work stations in proper order
  • Takes order, provides service and requested items both graciously and courteously
  • Clears dishes from tables during and after meal service
  • Answers pertinent questions about menu items
  • Ensures that orders match Physician's diet orders

Qualifications
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, perform simple arithmetic, and understand measurements and conversions
  • Previous experience in nursing home food service preferred, but not required
  • Ability to plan, organize and set up trays and plates in accordance with diet orders and interpret specifications and standards
  • Ability to work in close cooperation with residents, guests, visitors, families, supervisor and peers. Requires empathy for the elderly
