The Opportunity

We are recruiting an experienced Commercial HVAC Project Manager to take ownership of mechanical construction projects from initial turnover through final completion.

This is a highly visible position for someone who understands the technical and financial sides of commercial HVAC construction. You will be trusted to manage schedules, budgets, procurement, field coordination, customer relationships, project documentation, and overall project performance.

You will work closely with field leadership, general contractors, owners, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal support teams to ensure each project is completed safely, professionally, on schedule, and within budget.


What You Will Be Responsible For

  • Manage commercial HVAC and mechanical construction projects from award through final closeout.
  • Lead project turnover and preconstruction meetings.
  • Review contracts, scopes of work, estimates, plans, specifications, schedules, and project requirements.
  • Establish project budgets, labor forecasts, purchasing schedules, and milestone dates.
  • Monitor labor productivity, committed costs, material expenditures, billing, and overall project profitability.
  • Coordinate equipment and material procurement to prevent delays and maintain the project schedule.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers, general contractors, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Partner with superintendents, foremen, and field personnel to establish manpower needs and resolve jobsite challenges.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, meeting notes, correspondence, and other project documentation.
  • Identify scope gaps, coordination conflicts, scheduling concerns, and potential cost exposure before they negatively affect the project.
  • Prepare and negotiate change orders while maintaining complete supporting documentation.
  • Lead internal and external project meetings and provide clear updates regarding scheduling, financial performance, manpower, procurement, and outstanding issues.
  • Review job-cost reports and update project forecasts regularly.
  • Coordinate monthly billing and ensure work in place is billed accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain responsibility for project schedules and take corrective action when milestones are at risk.
  • Ensure work is performed according to approved plans, specifications, applicable codes, safety requirements, and company quality standards.
  • Coordinate startup, testing, commissioning, punch-list completion, warranty documentation, and project closeout.
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience while protecting the financial and operational interests of the organization.


What We Are Looking For

  • At least five years of commercial HVAC or mechanical project-management experience
  • Demonstrated success managing commercial mechanical projects from startup through completion
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC equipment, ductwork, hydronic and refrigerant piping, controls, and mechanical construction processes
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and technical documents
  • Experience managing project budgets, labor projections, job costs, billing, procurement, and change orders
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling and construction sequencing
  • Ability to anticipate problems, develop solutions, and make timely decisions
  • Strong leadership, organization, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities without losing attention to detail
  • Comfortable communicating with field personnel, executive leadership, general contractors, engineers, vendors, and customers
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction project-management or job-cost software
  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record


Additional Experience That Will Set You Apart

  • Experience managing large commercial, healthcare, institutional, industrial, mission-critical, or high-rise HVAC projects
  • Experience with BIM coordination and prefabrication
  • Knowledge of building automation and HVAC control systems
  • Experience developing and mentoring assistant project managers or project engineers
  • Degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, business, or a related discipline
  • Relevant HVAC, mechanical, or project-management certifications
