ย The Process Launch Engineer position is a corporate position for a candidate that will be located at a battery assembly plant location in the U.S. The candidate will report directly to corporate Manufacturing Engineering but will work closely with the plant manufacturing team in the facility they are located. The position will require the candidate to travel to other assembly plant locations in the U.S. and possibly Mexico that have defined capacity expansion projects. The Process Launch Engineer participates as a team member in projects of varying complexity and duration in the Mfg. Eng. Assembly area. The primary task assignment of the position is to provide assistance for the installation and start-up of equipment in the battery assembly area. The candidate will also assist in performing equipment checkout and acceptance at supplier facilities. The candidate will provide equipment design and PLC software support for the assigned projects. The candidate will assist in developing process specifications, Work instructions and other process documentation as assigned. Duties:

  • Participates as an Electrical Engineer team member in cross-functional teams assigned to startup new equipment and to develop changes to existing equipment as required.
  • Acts as manufacturing engineering lead in smaller projects that improves the battery assembly process capability.
  • Prepares and presents project progress reports with team members and plant personnel.
  • Seeks out and secures team members input and participation on projects.
  • Identifies barriers to project success and leads efforts to eliminate the barriers.
  • Collaborates with Safety, Environmental, and Quality Assurance Dept. personnel to ensure that battery assembly process and equipment are capable of producing a product that meets all Safety, Environmental, Quality and Engineering standards.
  • Interactions with plant manufacturing employees, plant maintenance employees and plant leadership in understanding the plant focus and the barriers to production performance.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.


Qualifications

Job Qualifications:Requirements:A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. AutoCAD drafting experience; ability to design and generate electrical schematics adhering to NFPA standards is required. Demonstrable ability to fluently communicate in the English language. Required Skill set: Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI Programming (RS-View, Panel builder, RS Logix500, RS Logix5000)Siemens (TI) PLC ProgrammingRobot Programming, Servo and motion control systemsAutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Other beneficial skills:Minitab, Six Sigma Additional requirements:Travel to various battery assembly plants throughout the US and Mexico is to be expected. Travel away from the assigned assembly plant location can reach or exceed 50% during peak expansion project implementation phases. Working hours in the battery plants during expansion project implementation may require working shifts other than 1st and working days on the weekend as needed; compensated work days that occur on the weekend will be provided.
