Traveling electricians have all the job duties of an electrician, but they travel from job to job. As a traveling electrician, you work to install electrical equipment and systems according to the safety codes dictated by the state in which you are working. Your responsibilities may require you to inspect existing wiring for problems and perform repairs. You should be able and willing to travel for extended periods of time to various job sites, some of which may be out of state. If you work with a company, they generally pay your lodging and travel expenses, though you may also find work as an independent contractor.
