Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PICU position in Houston, TX requiring at least 1 year of PICU experience and active BLS and PALS certifications.

Details
  • Located in the PICU on the 5th floor of the West Tower at a women's and children's hospital in Houston, TX
  • 14–22 bed PICU with staffing levels adjusted based on acuity and census
  • Patient ratio of 4:1
  • Pediatric cases include cleft palate repair, appendectomy, chest tube management, lumbar punctures, seizure management, and thoracic procedures such as thoracotomy, thoracoscopy, and pectus bar implants
  • Services include neurology, orthopedics, general surgery, and thoracic; no neurosurgery, stroke, or airway foreign body removal cases
  • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • 13-week contract
  • Requires 4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating to NICU Level 1 or 2 only
  • EMR: Meditech
Requirements
  • Active TX RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
  • Required certifications: BLS and PALS (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
  • ACLS preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of recent PICU experience required
  • US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
  • One professional reference required
  • No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
  • Supportive, collaborative team environment where all staff assist one another
  • Royal blue scrubs required
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — no local candidates accepted
  • This position is with an HCA Healthcare facility
