Description

American Traveler is hiring an ER RN for a night shift position at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of ER experience with prior travel or Level 1 trauma experience preferred.

Details
  • >Emergency Department setting at a Level I Trauma, Children's Hospital, Teaching Hospital, Acute Care facility
  • Approximately 60%-80% of ED patients are admitted, with many rooms functioning as ED Holding
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • 36 or 48 hour contracts available, with 48 hours reserved for travelers with both Level 1 trauma and travel experience
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Weekend rotation required as needed (Saturday/Sunday days, Friday/Saturday/Sunday nights)
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating to Peds ED optional; floating to Adult PCUs expected based on staffing needs; potential floating to ED Holding and Trauma
  • Uses Cerner charting system
  • Increased volume of admit holds currently being seen
Requirements
  • >Active RN license (NM or Compact) required, may pend at time of submission
  • 2 years of ER experience required (1.5 years may be considered)
  • Level II Trauma experience required; Level I Trauma experience strongly preferred
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC (TNCC must be obtained prior to submission)
  • RQI certifications not accepted
  • Travel experience strongly preferred; candidates with 2+ years Level 1 trauma experience may be considered as first-time travelers
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • Skills needed include IV therapy/phlebotomy, cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management, triage, and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Preferred skills include arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, ventilator patient care, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation, and trauma/resuscitation experience
  • Experience with neuro-trauma, CVA, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, gunshot wounds, and traumatic amputation preferred
Additional Information
  • >Administer medications including IV medications following the seven rights of medication administration
  • Document and communicate clinical findings
  • Must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility, no local candidates accepted within this radius
  • Non-local driver's license required on file
  • Christmas RTO no longer permitted
  • Must work 2 of the 3 holiday bundles: Thanksgiving & the day after, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, or New Year's Eve & New Year's Day
  • RTO requests greater than 7 days require approval; no RTO during first 7 days or last day of contract
  • COVID vaccine is optional, but facility requires reporting of vaccine status or declination
  • Scrub color is black, not provided by facility
  • Facility is a Level I Trauma, STEMI Certified, and Stroke Certified Center
  • First-time travelers may be considered if they have 2+ years of Level 1 trauma experience
  • Former staff must have 12 months of separation before returning
  • Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached one year require a 6-month system break
