Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position specializing in ED boarder/IMC care, requiring prior travel experience and EKG rhythm interpretation proficiency.

Details
  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting within an academic hospital environment
  • Responsible for admitted patients boarding in the ED while awaiting inpatient bed placement, covering varying diagnoses
  • Patient ratio of 1:4-5
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Charting system: Cerner (experience required)
  • Medication system: Pyxis
  • 13-week contract
Requirements
  • Active DC RN license required; pending DC license accepted, but must be in hand prior to start date — proof of pending status required at time of consideration
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • At least 1 prior travel assignment required
  • Must successfully pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum overall score of 80% and a score of 100% on lethal rhythms
  • Required skills: telemetry monitoring and interpretation, dysrhythmia management, IV insulin protocols, insulin drip titration, feeding tube care and management, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure care, IV therapy and phlebotomy, IV insertion, heparin protocols, PCA, nasal cannula, and isolation precautions
  • Preferred skills: cardiac telemetry, ER holding experience, PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown experience
  • Must be willing to care for COVID-19 patients
  • 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
  • Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
