Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position specializing in ED boarder/IMC care, requiring prior travel experience and EKG rhythm interpretation proficiency.
Details
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting within an academic hospital environment
- Responsible for admitted patients boarding in the ED while awaiting inpatient bed placement, covering varying diagnoses
- Patient ratio of 1:4-5
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Charting system: Cerner (experience required)
- Medication system: Pyxis
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active DC RN license required; pending DC license accepted, but must be in hand prior to start date — proof of pending status required at time of consideration
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- At least 1 prior travel assignment required
- Must successfully pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum overall score of 80% and a score of 100% on lethal rhythms
- Required skills: telemetry monitoring and interpretation, dysrhythmia management, IV insulin protocols, insulin drip titration, feeding tube care and management, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure care, IV therapy and phlebotomy, IV insertion, heparin protocols, PCA, nasal cannula, and isolation precautions
- Preferred skills: cardiac telemetry, ER holding experience, PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown experience
- Must be willing to care for COVID-19 patients
- 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
