Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Intermediate Care Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Aug 3, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care/Stepdown position requiring telemetry reading skills and comfort with chest tube management. Details Acute care Stepdown/Intermediate Care unit with 32 private-room beds Cares for patients with a wide range of medical conditions including COPD, CHF, diabetes, sepsis, renal issues, DKA, alcohol withdrawal, overdose, pneumonia, and other respiratory, neuro, surgical, and cardiac conditions Manages patients on Bipap, Cpap, with trachs, chest tubes, NG tubes, PICC lines, and central lines, as well as post-ablation/cath lab and dialysis patients Nurse to patient ratio of 3-4 patients per nurse Uses EPIC EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing system 12-hour night shifts, three shifts per week with rotating nights, weekends, and holidays Included in holiday and weekend rotation schedule Travelers are first to float, potentially to ICU (with extensive ICU experience) or Gen Med floors, with assignment adjusted to the level of care required Requirements Active IL RN license required Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS Minimum 2 years of experience required Must be able to accurately read telemetries Must be comfortable managing chest tubes EPIC EMR experience preferred Additional Information Provide direct patient care across a broad range of medical, surgical, cardiac, and neuro conditions in an acute inpatient setting Orientation consists of one day with the education team and one day of floor orientation Scrubs of any color are acceptable for dress code Local candidates are accepted, with local rates available for those within a 50-mile radius of the facility COVID vaccination is not required for consideration American Traveler Job ID P-737934.
