Job description

Brown Distributing Company is a leading beverage distributor throughout the state of Virginia. Since 1919, Brown Distributing has grown into a beverage distribution business with combined sales of over 3 million cases annually and serving in excess of 3,000 retailers with nearly 200 employees. We are seeking a career-minded Warehouse Associate-Picker to join our 2nd Shift and support the Operations Team in Richmond, VA!

Current Seasonal Schedule (~ March - November):

Sunday: 8AM until work is complete

Monday- Thursday:12:30PM until work is complete

Winter Schedule:

Monday- Friday:12:30PM until work is complete

Average is 40-50 hours per week.

Compensation:

$20/hour while training

*within 90 days transition to case pay (commission structure) at minimum 180 cases/hour + $350/biweekly performance bonus*

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Operate an electric pallet jack to safely and efficiently travel warehouse aisles while picking pallets.
  • Pick individual cases of beer, malt beverages, and related products from warehouse slots using a voice-based pick system.
  • Build stable pallets by account in accordance with stacking and sequencing requirements.
  • Wrap top layer, label and stage completed pallets.
  • Maintain the established cases-per-hour rate consistent with commission pay targets and company productivity standards.
  • Minimize mispicks and shorts by verifying order details before moving to the next slot.
  • Report slot discrepancies, damaged product, or inventory variances to a supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift.
  • Perform general warehouse functions as required during low-volume periods.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

  • Interacts with employees in a safe and productive manner.
  • Operate electric pallet jacks only after completing required certification training.
  • Wear seatbelt or safety harness at all times when operating any Powered Industrial Truck (PIT).
  • Adhere to safe speed limits and observe all pedestrian walkways and traffic patterns.
  • Safety-toed shoes are MANDATORY at all times on the warehouse floor.
  • No cell phone use while operating equipment or in active picking aisles.
  • No horseplay on or around equipment at any time.
  • Inspect electric pallet jack at the start of each shift; report defects before use.
  • Report any injury, near-miss, or accident to a supervisor immediately.
  • Follow all established PPE requirements and company safety protocols.

All final applicants will be required to comply and pass all drug and background checks.
