Job description

Medical Lab Technologist

Responsible for analyzing, evaluating and interpreting various specimens for the detection, diagnosis and treatment of a variety of medical conditions.

Duties And Responsibilities

Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of patient specimens according to established procedures. Perform specimen collection and other specimen handling duties as needed.

Operate complex biomedical electronic instrumentation including calibration, maintenance, quality assurance and troubleshooting.

Perform and analyze quality control procedures including daily testing, recording, problem resolution and compiling reports to assure accuracy of all results.

Review and verify the accuracy of test results before entering into information system. Investigate unusual test results and report clinically significant information appropriately. Interpret results when requested.

Maintain a proper inventory of supplies needed in order to provide continuous service, minimizing downtime.

Assist in instructing new employees to learn established lab procedures and practices.

Maintain current knowledge of specialty by attending seminars, in-services and reading journals.

Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

An associate's degree in medical lab technology and a minimum of six months job-related experience or equivalent is required. ASCP or NCA is also required.
