Proudly serving Northeast Ohio communities, Banyan Living is seeking a dependable, skilled, and self-motivated Traveling Maintenance Technician to support our portfolio of scattered-site apartment communities. This position is ideal for an experienced maintenance professional who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and working independently. The Traveling Maintenance Technician will regularly travel between multiple properties throughout the week to complete maintenance requests, unit turns, preventive maintenance, inspections, and special projects while helping maintain the quality and appearance of our communities.

Position Summary

The Traveling Maintenance Technician provides maintenance support across multiple Banyan Living properties, ensuring that apartments, building systems, and common areas are maintained to the highest standards. This role requires excellent troubleshooting skills, strong time management, the ability to prioritize work independently, and a commitment to outstanding customer service for residents and internal teams.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Travel between assigned Banyan Living communities throughout the workweek to provide maintenance support.
  • Complete maintenance work orders accurately, efficiently, and professionally.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair issues involving:
    • Plumbing
    • Electrical systems
    • HVAC equipment
    • Appliances
    • Carpentry
    • Drywall
    • Painting
    • Flooring
    • Doors, windows, locks, and other general building components
  • Perform preventive maintenance on building systems, equipment, and common areas.
  • Conduct property and unit inspections to identify maintenance needs and proactively address potential issues.
  • Complete apartment turnovers, including repairs, painting, cleaning preparation, and punch-list items to meet move-in deadlines.
  • Assist with renovations, capital improvement projects, seasonal maintenance, and other special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of completed work, materials used, and follow-up items using the company's mobile maintenance management system.
  • Communicate professionally with residents, vendors, property managers, and fellow team members regarding maintenance requests and project updates.
  • Maintain company tools, equipment, vehicle (if assigned), and inventory in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company policies, OSHA standards, and applicable building codes.
  • Respond to occasional emergency maintenance situations and participate in the rotating on-call schedule as assigned.
  • Support onsite maintenance teams by providing additional coverage during vacations, staffing shortages, or periods of increased workload.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
  • Regularly walk, climb stairs and ladders, kneel, bend, crouch, and work in confined spaces.
  • Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Safely operate maintenance tools, equipment, and power tools.

  • Full-time position.
  • Regular travel between Banyan Living communities throughout Northeast Ohio.
  • Mileage reimbursement or company vehicle provided (if applicable).
  • Participation in an after-hours emergency on-call rotation is required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 years of apartment maintenance, residential maintenance, or related building maintenance experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance repair, carpentry, drywall, and painting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and complete repairs independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while traveling between properties.
  • Experience using mobile work order or property management software is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening in accordance with company policy.
