Clinician LMHP or LMHP-E

Salary Range: $46,349.00 To $75,158.00 Annually

Hours: full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Location: Bedford, VA.

Compensation is dependent on experience

Position Summary

The Clinician LMHP/LMHP-E will assess the needs of individuals referred to the program and use information obtained to develop and implement appropriate treatment approaches and counseling support services. These services include developing individual treatment plans, conducting assessments, providing counseling services, and educating individuals on available community resources.

Required Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree from a program that prepares individuals to practice counseling (60-hr Master's Program), which is offered by a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency. (Re: 54.1-3500 of the Code of Virginia)
  • Licensed Mental Health Professional / License Mental Health Professional-Eligible
  • No experience required.

Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of evidence-based practices to include but not limited to; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); emergency interventions, family, group, and individual therapies; psychosocial education; risk assessments; sex offender treatment; substance abuse interventions; etc. Knowledge of community mental health and public health in order to provide advocacy and enhance an individual’s treatment and access to community resources. Knowledge of the principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature related to mental health, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse. Knowledge of psychiatric/medical medications/treatments. Perform clinical interviews in order to obtain information and to formulate appropriate treatment plans.

Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holiday, etc.) as required. Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license. May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients, provide services to clients other locations. Regular attendance at trainings and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites; Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed.
