Job description

Travel Installer - Custom Lockers & Casework (Nationwide Projects)
Full-Time Heavy Travel Based out of Kansas City
At SHIELD, we design, build, and install premium custom locker rooms and healthcare casework for professional sports teams, universities, and world-class medical facilities across the U.S.
This is not typical construction work - every project is custom, high-end, and built to impress.
If you like working with your hands, traveling the country, and seeing your work installed in incredible spaces - this is the job for you.
What This Role Looks Like
As a Travel Installer, you'll work alongside experienced installers to bring SHIELD's custom products to life on-site across the country.
You can expect to:
  • Travel nationwide roughly 21+ days per month (hotels, flights, and travel covered)
  • Install custom lockers, cabinetry, and specialty casework in athletic and healthcare facilities
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and basic carpentry techniques daily
  • Work as part of a tight-knit install crew to hit project deadlines
  • Problem-solve on site and adapt to unique custom builds
  • When not traveling, work in our Kansas City shop learning fabrication skills
What We're Looking For
Great fit if you:
  • Enjoy hands-on work and learning skilled trades
  • Are comfortable with frequent travel and flexible schedules
  • Have basic experience with tools, carpentry, fabrication, or construction
  • Take pride in quality work and teamwork
  • Can lift up to 70-75 lbs and handle physical job demands
  • Have a valid driver's license and can pass site/background requirements
Experience That's a Plus (Not Required)
  • Cabinetry, furniture, casework, or millwork experience
  • Reading blueprints or shop drawings
  • OSHA or safety certifications
  • Previous install, construction, or travel-based work
Why You'll Like Working at SHIELD
  • Travel the country on company projects
  • Work on high-end custom builds - not repetitive installs
  • Learn fabrication and advanced install skills
  • Strong team culture that looks out for each other
  • Steady full-time work with growth opportunities
Pay & Benefits
This is a full-time hourly (non-exempt) role with a strong benefits package, including:
  • Medical, Dental & Vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) match
  • Bonus program
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • 7 paid holidays
  • Short & long-term disability and life insurance
Schedule & Travel
  • Heavy travel role (majority of the month on the road)
  • Flexible hours including occasional nights and weekends depending on project timelines
  • When not traveling: work in our Kansas City shop
