Job Description
We are seeking a knowledgeable and safety-focused
Heavy Transport Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy vehicles to transport goods and materials over long distances, adhering to local and national regulations. This role requires a commitment to safety, timely deliveries, and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy transport vehicles, including loading and unloading cargo and Heavy Equipment when necessary.
- Plan routes efficiently while adhering to delivery schedules.
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical and safety issues, perform basic maintenance checks, and report any defects.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle conditions as required by regulations.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and company safety policies at all times.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, fleet managers, and customers.
- Ensure proper handling of cargo to prevent damage or loss during transit.
- Participate in required safety and compliance training sessions.
Required Qualifications
- Valid heavy vehicle driver's license (Class A CDL) with tanker, doubles and triples endorsements.
- Proven experience operating heavy transport vehicles (e.g., trucks, trailers, or other large vehicles).
- Clean driving record with no recent major violations.
- Good understanding of national and local transportation laws and regulations.
- Ability to carry out basic vehicle maintenance and safety inspections.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy items as required.
- Ability to work independently, with limited supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs) or similar fleet management systems.
- Familiarity with basic mechanical troubleshooting of heavy vehicles.
