Responsibilities
The Trauma Nurse Coordinator collaborates with the Trauma Program Manager, Medical Director, unit leaders and other members of the Trauma Program for planning, development and implementation of program goals and operations to provide excellence in patient care. The Nurse Coordinator promotes use of evidence-based guidelines, ensures compliance with state and national standards of care, assists with program quality management, and monitors performance measures. The Nurse Coordinator demonstrates a firm clinical knowledge base in trauma or burn care and systems theory, exhibits clinical leadership, promotes professional development, and is a change agent/role model. The Nurse Coordinator provides ongoing education and training for both Legacy nursing staff and the greater communities Legacy serves. Serves as a liaison between hospitals, physicians, pre-hospital providers and administration and supports regional outreach strategy. In addition, the Nurse Coordinator is responsible for assisting Legacy Health facilities in meeting the requirements of trauma or burn specific regulatory bodies.
Qualifications
Education:
Academic degree in nursing (BSN or MSN/MN) required; MSN/MN preferred.
Experience:
Minimum one year of experience in caring for trauma patients in an acute care, emergency, or critical care unit required, three to five years preferred.
Knowledge/Skills:
Advanced expertise in the area of responsibility.
Competence in application of the Nursing process.
Ability to apply relevant theories and management concepts.
Understanding of patient care cost and reimbursement information.
Judgment, tact and diplomacy skills to interact with a broad spectrum of departments, physicians, patients/families, health care team members, professional colleagues and community members to effect desired outcomes.
Ability to organize, prioritize and apply problem solving skills.
Understanding of hospital systems.
Ability to negotiate, collaborate, delegate and effect desired changes.
Ability to apply appropriate teaching and learning principles for staff development.
Must possess strong communication and leadership skills, including ability to lead by example.
Excellent interpersonal skills in order to work with multi-disciplinary staff, physicians, and managers throughout the organization.
Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.
Licensure
Current applicable state RN license required.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
Certification in Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) or Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) is strongly preferred.
Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is preferred.
Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is preferred
Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support is required for Trauma Nurse Coordinators employed by Randall Children's Hospital
Pay Range
USD $57.63 - USD $86.08 /Hr.
