Overview
Under direct supervision maintain assigned areas with the medical center in sanitary, safe, attractive, and orderly condition.
Responsibilities
The Environmental Services (EVS) Associate aids in maintaining a high-quality standard of housekeeping. This includes performing cleaning functions in assigned areas while following assigned schedules and specific methods to provide patients, visitors, and staff with a sanitary, orderly, and safe patient care environment. EVS Associates aid in prevention of cross contamination, controlling bacteria, odor, and sustaining acceptable aseptic conditions. They may assist with furniture moves, recycling, curtain replacement, delivery of supplies, and the removal of trash and biohazard waste.
Within Environmental Services are other areas of specialties such as:
Floor Care:
  • Sweep, mop, wax vinyl tile floors, vacuum, and shampoo carpets, and scrub grout areas as required.
  • Report any floor issues that need more than routine cleaning, such as worn areas, for scheduling of deeper maintenance.
  • Complete floor care tasks/projects with walk-behind machines, side-by-side scrubbers, carpet extractors etc..

Linnen Care:
  • Managing, sorting, cleaning, and distributing clean linens throughout the hospital and collecting solid linens
  • Inventory management by keeping records of linen levels

Qualifications
  • Previous cleaning experience in healthcare, school, or hospitality setting.
  • Experience operating floor equipment, sweepers, and commercial washers/dryers.
  • On-the-job training will be provided.

Competencies Skills
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Basic knowledge of computer programs for documentation purposes.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Capable of managing challenging or crisis situations.
  • Excellent customer service skills with patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Familiarity with basic EVS equipment and cleaning protocols.
