About Youth Opportunity & Brooksville Youth Academy

Youth Opportunity’s Brooksville Youth Academy is a 72‑bed Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility serving adolescent males ages 13–17. The program delivers trauma‑informed mental health and substance abuse treatment in a structured therapeutic environment. Youth participate in individual, family, and group therapy, restorative justice programming, life skills development, vocational prep, and enrichment activities such as art, music, recreation, yoga, and equine therapy. Services are provided 24/7 in small group living units to support emotional stabilization and successful community reintegration. Length of stay varies based on progress toward individualized treatment goals.


Position Summary – Transporter Job in Brooksville, FL
We are hiring a Transporter to support transportation services at Brooksville Youth Academy. This role is ideal for individuals with safe driving experience, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to providing a secure and supportive environment for youth. You will transport youth to and from the program and other activities, maintain vehicles, and assist staff in ensuring youth safety during transport.

Transporter Responsibilities

  • Provide scheduled transportation services for youth to and from the program and other activities as needed
  • Assist in developing and maintaining efficient pick-up and delivery route schedules
  • Operate vans and other vehicles safely and in accordance with YOI policies and traffic laws
  • Maintain, inspect, clean, and perform basic operator-level maintenance on assigned vehicles
  • Complete vehicle safety checklists before and after each use
  • Supervise youth during transport and ensure safe behavior
  • Report unsafe vehicle issues or incidents immediately


Other Duties Include

  • Maintain high standards of role model behavior for youth
  • Maintain contact with program staff during transport, without operating the vehicle while using a phone
  • Participate in training and development activities as required
  • Report any acts or conditions that may indicate inappropriate youth-to-youth or staff-to-youth interactions
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior safe driving experience and proven safe driving record
  • Ability to relate to a wide diversity of youth and adults


Preferred Experience

  • Two years’ work experience with youth preferred
  • Familiarity with residential treatment or youth programs


Other Requirements

  • Physical Demands: Ability to transport youth; maintain sitting position for at least half of the day; occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds; maintain focus on road and traffic conditions while supervising youth; must be free of communicable diseases as defined by the state.


  • Other: Must maintain a valid state driver’s license and meet state criminal background check requirements. Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends. Must meet requirements for YOI’s auto insurance and be authorized to drive for business purposes.
