TheCritical Care Transport (CCT)Team isavailable 24/7 toprovide immediate medical treatment to patientspresentingvarious critical injuries,illnessesand concerns. APRNcaregiver in this position worksa minimum of one 12-hour shift per week. One of four shifts permonthmust be a night shift.This caregiver must be available to workany shiftMonday-Friday,as well as rotatingweekends and holidays.

Caregivers need to be flexible to work at any of the following sites: Indian River, Martin North, Martin South, Tradition and St. Lucie West.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide immediate medical treatment to critically ill or injured patients throughout the interfacility or scene transport process.

• Navigate an ambulance to respond to emergency calls andmaintainequipment.

• Assess the nature and extent of the illness or injury, administerappropriate emergencymedical care, communicate with medical personnel at the hospital, report/record observations and follow directives until report and hand-off at hospital.

• Function as an advocate for the patient and their family by supplying and interpreting information, supportingdecisionsandfacilitatingcommunication.

• Respond safely and without delay to calls for emergencyassistanceand report on time toscheduledobligations.

• Operate emergencyvehiclesafely andin accordance withdepartment policy and procedures.

• Perform daily vehicle safety and readiness checks, reporting any actual and potential hazards.

• Conduct point-of-care laboratory testing as part of patient care andparticipatein requisite point-of-care testing maintenance proceduresas applicable.

• Perform daily and monthly checks to ensure continuous readiness for state inspection.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Completion of an accredited EMT-ParamedicTrainingProgram

• Currentstateof Floridaor national licensure as anEmergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P or PMD)

• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)Certificationsthrough the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Cross

• Completion of a NewbornResuscitation Program (NRP)withinsixmonths of hire

• Operation ofEmergencyVehicles (EVOC)Certificationwitheighthourseachof driving andlecture time

• Currentstate of FloridaValidDriver'sLicense (VDL)

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Associate'sDegreein EMS

• Three years of experience as an EMT or Paramedic

• Experience in anEmergencyRoom,FireRescueor other critical care transport

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to perform in limited quarters, ground and air transport modes and in all types of terrain and weather conditions. Frequent bending, twisting, climbing steps or ladders, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.

• Medium Work - exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

• Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
