We are looking to hire a Logistics Planner in the city of Pico Rivera, CA. This is a Temporary Contract opportunity to join our Logistics department. 


Pay Rate: $30 - $34/hour

Schedule: Full-time | Onsite | Monday–Friday (8am-5pm)

Contract: Temporay for 2-3 Months


Position Summary:

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Logistics Planner to support transportation and supply chain operations by coordinating inbound, outbound, direct-ship, and backhaul shipments through a Transportation Management System (TMS). This role is responsible for ensuring timely load planning, analyzing transportation data, maintaining carrier relationships, and collaborating with Purchasing, Operations, and Accounting to ensure the efficient movement of goods. The ideal candidate is analytical, highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and plan inbound, outbound, direct-ship, and backhaul shipments using a Transportation Management System (TMS).
  • Ensure shipments are planned and tendered to carriers in a timely manner to support business operations.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Operations, Accounting, vendors, carriers, and branch locations to ensure the seamless movement of purchase orders.
  • Negotiate carrier rates and support transportation cost-saving initiatives when needed.
  • Maintain accurate transportation, routing, and carrier information within the TMS.
  • Analyze transportation data, shipping methods, carrier performance, and routing efficiency to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support carrier bid activities, lane analysis, and freight optimization projects.
  • Coordinate backhaul opportunities with company fleet operations to maximize transportation efficiency.
  • Audit freight invoices and assist with carrier billing and settlement processes.
  • Prepare transportation reports, metrics, and data analysis to support management decision-making.
  • Analyze purchasing and shipping trends to identify freight consolidation and cost reduction opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, dispatch, or supply chain planning.
  • Experience working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, reporting, and data analysis.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience generating reports and interpreting transportation and operational metrics.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
