SUMMARY

The Senior Business Systems Analyst serves as a strategic bridge between Information Technology, Transportation Operations, Maintenance, and business stakeholders, ensuring the successful alignment of technology solutions with operational and organizational objectives. This hybrid role combines advanced business systems analysis, intelligent transportation systems (ITS) expertise, project leadership, and IT liaison responsibilities to support both enterprise technology initiatives and mission-critical transit technology platforms. The Senior Business Systems Analyst is responsible for evaluating, implementing, supporting, and optimizing business and operational systems that enable safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services. Acting as the primary liaison between operational departments and technical teams, this position translates business requirements into technology solutions, facilitates cross-functional collaboration, manages vendor relationships, and ensures that technology investments deliver measurable business value.
This role serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for transit technology systems, including Vontas Integrated Vehicle Logic Unit (IVLU) platforms, Automatic Passenger Counting (APC) systems such as IRMA 6 and IRMA Matrix sensors, mobile communications infrastructure utilizing Cradlepoint routers, onboard vehicle technologies, real-time passenger information systems, intelligent transportation systems, and enterprise video management platforms including Genetec Security Center. The position is responsible for supporting system integrations, monitoring system performance, managing upgrades and deployments, coordinating vendor support activities, and ensuring operational technology systems remain reliable and effective.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain enterprise IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networks, and cloud environments.
  • Design, configure, and support LAN/WAN architectures, VPNs, wireless systems, and firewalls.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and escalation support for complex hardware, software, and networking issues.
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain end-user devices including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Manage endpoint management tools such as Intune, SCCM, or JAMF for device imaging, patching, and compliance.
  • Ensure timely provisioning, setup, and lifecycle management of all user hardware and software assets.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership to plan and execute infrastructure and device refresh projects.
  • Implement and maintain network and system monitoring, backups, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and group policies across enterprise systems.
  • Support and secure hybrid and cloud-based systems (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).
  • Maintain accurate documentation of systems, network configurations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Mentor and support junior IT staff and technicians in troubleshooting and system best practices.
  • Research and recommend emerging technologies to improve efficiency, reliability, and user experience.

As part of your responsibility to support the CATS Safety Culture, report safety concerns and issues through the various methods established by CATS as outlined in the ASP.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, systems, or network engineering.
  • Strong hands-on experience with enterprise networking (Cisco, Aruba, or similar).
  • Expertise in end-user device deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, and VPN technologies.
  • Proficiency in Windows and macOS environments; experience with mobile device management (MDM).
  • Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).
  • Familiarity with IT service management (ITSM) and security best practices.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect - Professional
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional
  • VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent +5 Years of working knowledge in the field.
  • Associate of Science in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems + 10 Years of working knowledge in the field.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
