Job Title: Call Center Agent (Education and Compliance)
Agency: Arizona Department of Revenue (AZDOR)
Location: (Candidates must reside within 1 hour of Phoenix or Tucson, AZ)
Duration: 6 Months (Staff Augmentation; potential for permanent hire)
Shift: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Training: 3 weeks, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM)

Position Overview
The Arizona Department of Revenue is seeking professional Call Center Agents for the Education and Compliance division. Responsibilities include handling inbound calls regarding Individual and Business tax compliance, delinquency, and general information requests. Ideal candidates demonstrate a bias for doing the right thing and maintaining a positive, service-oriented attitude.
Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Support: Handle high-volume inbound calls, resolving Tier 1 issues and reviewing taxpayer accounts.
  • Data Accuracy: Simultaneously update key information in multiple systems while communicating with taxpayers.
  • Education: Guide taxpayers on current tax policies and online resources.
  • Account Management: Process payment arrangements and provide detailed documentation of all actions taken.
  • Collaboration: Participate in team engagement activities and meet performance expectations.
Mandatory Requirements
  • Recent Experience: The previous two positions must each be at least one consecutive year in a fast-paced, national call center (e.g., Finance, Banking, Insurance, or Telecommunications).
    • Note: Technical support, switchboard, or dispatch experience does not qualify.
  • Residency: Candidates must live within 1 hour of Phoenix or Tucson. Resumes must specify current location to be considered.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree or higher preferred).
  • Math Skills: Proficiency in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) is required.
  • Soft Skills: Strong multitasking, excellent verbal/written communication, and creative problem-solving.
Remote Work & Equipment
  • In-Person Requirement: Attendance at a 1st-day orientation in person in Phoenix is mandatory. Candidates must be able to transport equipment (micro-desktop, 2 monitors, keyboard, mouse, headset) to their home via personal vehicle (no public transport).
  • Tech Requirements: Hardwired internet access with sufficient bandwidth is required. (If using a 5G router, it must be brought to orientation for IT setup).
  • Flexibility: While remote, candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule within operating hours (7:45 AM – 5:15 PM) based on business needs.
