Shape the Future of Transportation in One of South Carolina's Fastest-Growing Communities!
The Town of Mount Pleasant is seeking an experienced transportation engineering professional to lead its traffic and transportation operations. The Transportation Operations Division Chief manages the Town's traffic signal system, transportation studies, infrastructure programs, and assigned capital projects while supervising professional and technical staff.
The position works closely with Town leadership, elected officials, residents, developers, consultants, contractors, and partner agencies to improve transportation safety, mobility, and infrastructure throughout the community. Key responsibilities include traffic operations, development-plan review, traffic calming, pedestrian and bicycle improvements, project and budget management, and presentations to the Transportation Committee and Town Council.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering and five years of transportation or traffic engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Professional Engineer license
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer certification, or ability to obtain within two years
  • Road Safety Professional Level 1 certification, or ability to obtain within two years
  • Valid South Carolina driver's license
