POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a detail-oriented Transportation Coordinator to coordinate the daily movement of drivers and freight at our [City] facility. In this role, you'll route drivers and communicate start times, review driver logs to ensure DOT compliance, and enter and reconcile transportation invoices and documentation in our transportation management system — all while providing excellent service to customers and collaborating closely with our Freight Brokerage department.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Route drivers and communicate daily start times, schedules, and assignments to support on-time pickups and deliveries
  • Review driver logs and hours-of-service records to ensure compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations, escalating exceptions as needed
  • Enter, verify, and reconcile transportation invoices and shipment documentation in MercuryGate (transportation management system)
  • Monitor and track the status of loads and shipments, providing timely updates to customers and internal stakeholders
  • Communicate professionally with drivers, carriers, customers, and the Freight Brokerage department to resolve routing, scheduling, and service issues
  • Maintain accurate transportation records, including rates, mileage, delivery confirmations, and compliance documentation
  • Coordinate with onsite operations and warehouse personnel to align driver schedules with dock and yard activity
  • Support continuous improvement of routing efficiency, on-time performance, and transportation cost control
  • Perform other related administrative and coordination duties as assigned

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 2+ years of experience in transportation coordination, dispatch, logistics, or a related field
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with a transportation management system (TMS) such as MercuryGate preferred
  • Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA hours-of-service regulations preferred
  • Familiarity with routing, dispatch, and freight documentation preferred
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate with others, review information, operate a computer and standard office equipment, and remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. The employee frequently works in an office environment and may periodically move about the warehouse, dock, and yard to coordinate with drivers and operations personnel, where exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and moving equipment may occur. The employee may occasionally reach, bend, and lift or carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities may include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
