As a Highway Design Project Engineer, you will be involved in innovative transportation and highway design projects throughout the Delaware area. You will work closely with an experienced senior project engineers or project manager, contributing to the successful delivery of high-quality transportation projects. This position offers the opportunity to make an impact on key highway design projects while advancing your career in transportation engineering. Our team enjoys a hybrid schedule, which allows us to offer this role in one of our Dover or New Castle, DE offices.

Responsibilities:

  • Performance: Execute engineering tasks in transportation and highway design, ensuring adherence to relevant design criteria, standards, and processes.
  • Knowledge: Apply a strong understanding of transportation engineering principles, including roadway geometry, pavement design, traffic control, and stormwater management.
  • Design and Planning: Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction, as well as construction cost estimates.
  • Collaboration with Project Teams: Work closely with project teams, clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to deliver effective highway design solutions.
  • Project Coordination: Ensure designs meet state and federal highway regulations, codes, and client specifications.
  • Problem Solving and Innovation: Identify design issues and provide effective solutions throughout the design process.
  • Client Relationship: Assist in building and maintaining relationships with clients, ensuring satisfaction and project success.
  • Career Growth: Develop expertise in highway design and contribute to Century Engineering’s continued growth in the transportation sector.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 3-6 years of relevant highway design experience.
  • Engineering Intern (EI) license required.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
  • Familiarity with state and federal highway design regulations and guidelines.
  • Proficiency with, MicroStation, Open Roads Designer (ORD), 3D Modeling etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Experience with project delivery of State Agency Transportation Departments – Delaware preferred.
