We're hiring a Logistics Transportation Planner at our Corporate Headquarters in Columbia, MO and we're looking for someone who's ready to grow with us, bring energy and drive to their work, and help us build the future of construction.
The primary goal of the Logistics Transportation Planner is to ensure the efficient and cost-effective flow of equipment, parts and materials through the entire supply chain, from suppliers, through the distribution center, to the customers and internal branches. This role will heavily focus on the optimization of brokered truckload shipments, ensuring they adhere to all service level and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day functions will include a mix of data analysis, carrier relationship management, and the coordination of current and future transportation operations.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and optimize brokered truckload shipments for inbound and outbound freight, ensuring efficient routing and carrier selection.
  • Negotiate and manage relationships with freight brokers and carriers to secure competitive rates and reliable service for truckload moves.
  • Analyze and identify opportunities to consolidate shipments and optimize truckload utilization to reduce transportation costs.
  • Proficient in navigating multiple systems and platforms simultaneously while effectively multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Monitor freight to ensure successful delivery within customer service requirements.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to truckload efficiency, cost, and service, providing regular reports and actionable insights.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including warehousing and procurement, to optimize logistics operations and integrate truckload strategies.
  • Research and analyze market trends in the truckload freight industry to inform carrier selection and rate negotiations.
  • Address and resolve issues related to brokered truckload shipments, including delays, damages, and discrepancies.
  • Analyze distribution activities and suggest process improvements to enhance overall logistics efficiency and compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field such as Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, or Operations Management is preferred.
    • At least 2+ years of experience in Distribution, Operations, Manufacturing, and/or Supply Chain
    • Logistics operations/analysis experience with a focus on truckload freight or brokered transportation preferred.
    • Experience working with internal/external customers.
    • Experience implementing, managing, and completing complex, multi-functional projects.
    • Proficient using Microsoft Office applications; strong user of Excel.

    Physical Requirements:
    • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
    • Some work is required in "off-hours" for business meetings/company events.
    • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time in front of a computer.
    • Ability to move about the facility on a regular basis to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking.
    • Visual and hearing acuity.
    • Travel Requirement: 5-10%
