Job Summary
The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating the daily transportation activities for a fleet of three (3) company drivers. This position ensures the timely and efficient scheduling of pickups and deliveries, maintains communication with drivers and customers, monitors daily transportation activities, and supports the overall operational success of Sealy Logistics. The Dispatcher serves as the primary point of contact for drivers, customers, and internal departments while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable DOT and FMCSA regulations.

Driver Dispatch amp; Scheduling
  • Coordinate daily dispatch activities for three (3) company drivers.
  • Schedule pickups and deliveries to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Assign daily loads and communicate delivery instructions to drivers.
  • Monitor driver progress, estimated arrival times (ETAs), and route completion.
  • Adjust schedules as needed due to customer requests, traffic, weather, or operational changes.
Driver Communication
  • Maintain regular communication with drivers throughout the workday.
  • Provide route information, customer instructions, and delivery updates.
  • Assist drivers in resolving routine transportation or delivery issues.
  • Report operational concerns to management promptly.
Customer Service
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers regarding shipment status.
  • Respond professionally to customer inquiries and delivery updates.
  • Notify customers of delays or scheduling changes.
  • Build and maintain positive customer relationships through effective communication.
Documentation amp; Administrative Support
  • Maintain accurate dispatch records, delivery documentation, and driver files.
  • Enter transportation information into dispatch software or company systems.
  • Verify Bills of Lading (BOLs), Proofs of Delivery (PODs), and shipping documentation.
  • Prepare daily or weekly dispatch reports for management as requested.
Compliance amp; Fleet Support
  • Monitor driver Hours of Service (HOS) and Electronic Logging Device (ELD) records for compliance.
  • Assist with maintaining driver qualification files and required transportation documentation.
  • Coordinate routine vehicle maintenance appointments and communicate maintenance needs to management.
  • Report accidents, safety concerns, vehicle breakdowns, or equipment issues immediately.
Operational Support
  • Coordinate with warehouse personnel to ensure loads are prepared and available for scheduled departures.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve routing efficiency and reduce operating costs.
  • Support special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Business, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum two (2) years of dispatching or transportation coordination experience preferred.
  • Experience in trucking, logistics, or freight transportation preferred.
  • Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
