Job description

Project Logistics Transportation Engineer

Company Overview

At Mitsubishi Power, we're not just building better clean energy technologies; we're architecting a better future. Our team is boldly redefining power generation and energy storage to fast-track the world's energy transition. We operate as one team, pushing toward our vision of the future. We value problem-solvers, prioritize collaboration, and support each other in an inclusive culture through accountability and authenticity by demonstrating our core values: Safety, Family, Innovative, Inclusive, Accountable & Courageous. Together, we're building the future we all aspire to - making net zero a reality.

Role Overview

The Project Logistics Transportation Engineer supports Mitsubishi Power's New Generation Systems logistics team by engineering and executing heavy-lift and oversized cargo transportation solutions. This role partners with Project Logistics Managers and Global Commodity Managers to deliver technically sound and operationally executable transport plans from bid phase through field execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform route surveys and feasibility assessments including site walks and digital modeling.
  • Conduct axle load, load distribution, and center-of-gravity calculations for heavy-lift cargo.
  • Analyze hauling, bridge capacity, and structural limitations to validate transport feasibility.
  • Review barge, marine, and crane engineering calculations for heavy lift operations.
  • Validate transport configurations including SPMTs, hydraulic trailers, rail, and barge solutions.
  • Develop transport engineering drawings using tools such as AutoCAD, GIS, and Excel models.
  • Review and approve vendor engineering including rigging, grillage, seafastening, and lift plans.
  • Lead or support field execution of loadouts, heavy transport, and installation activities.
  • Validate site conditions including obstructions, ground conditions, and environmental factors.
  • Coordinate with transport vendors, crane teams, port operators, and field crews.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve field execution challenges in real-time.
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures, lift plans, and method statements during operations.
  • Support bid and proposal development with engineering input and cost modeling.
  • Identify risks early and develop mitigation strategies for transportation and logistics.
  • Interface with customers, EPC teams, and internal stakeholders on transport planning.
  • Support project scheduling, sequencing, and logistics planning efforts.
  • Evaluate carrier equipment, fleet capability, and maintenance compliance.
  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards.
  • Develop standard tools, calculation methods, and engineering procedures.
  • Support HSE initiatives and maintain consistent safety standards across operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in heavy haul, project logistics, or transport engineering.
  • Direct experience with heavy-lift equipment such as SPMTs, hydraulic trailers, cranes, and barges.
  • Strong understanding of structural and transport engineering principles.
  • Experience conducting route surveys, permitting, and transport coordination.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools such as AutoCAD, GIS, and Excel.
  • Ability to translate engineering concepts into field-executable plans.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in high-pressure environments.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills across technical and field teams.
  • Ability to travel extensively (20-40%) and support field operations.
  • Preferred: experience in power generation, EPC projects, or industrial logistics.
  • Preferred: experience with port operations, heavy lift systems, or 3D modeling tools.

Why Should You Apply?

  • Excellent Benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision & 401K Matching).
  • Opportunity to work on complex, large-scale power generation logistics projects.
  • Hands-on field execution combined with technical engineering responsibilities.
  • Professional growth in global EPC and heavy transport operations.
  • Paid vacation, sick time, and holidays.
  • Great working environment and culture.
  • Employee Appreciation Programs and Events.
