Job description

  • We are hiring immediately for full time PATIENT TRANSPORTER LEAD positions.
  • Address: Henry Ford St. John Hospital - 22101 Moross Road, Detroit, MI 48236. Note: online applications accepted only.
  • Schedule: Full time schedule; Days and hours may vary. Rotating weekends and holidays. More details upon interview. 
  • Requirement: Prior patient transporter and supervisory experience preferred. 
  • Perks: Willing to train!
  • Fixed Pay Rate:  $16.50 per hour.

Job Summary


Summary:   Responsible for the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients, medical equipment and patient-related items to their destinations.  
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directs daily work of other patient transporters and reports inadequate performance to Supervisor.
  • Trains new and existing employees; updates personnel files. Follows up on complaints and reports them to the Supervisor.
  • Evaluates work requirements and assignments; ensures efficient use of employees and distribution of work load.
  • Demonstrates competency in transporting all specific age-groups.
  • Ensures the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients to their destination; brings the proper requested equipment.
  • Communicates effectively with nursing personnel, clinicians, technicians, or reception and dispatch.
  • Ensures patient comfort by being attentive; offers blankets, checks modesty and only engages in appropriate conversation involving patients. Never transports patients in severe pain.
  • Immediately alerts nursing staff to any signs of patient distress or equipment malfunction.
  • Maintains equipment and reports equipment needing repairs.
  • Complies with regulator agency standards, including federal, state and JCAHO.
  • Adheres to facility confidentiality and patientsA rights policy as outlined in the facility's HIPPA policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
