Description:

PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Transportation Associate is responsible for reviewing the loading plan report (LPR) to provide driver support of warehouse functions and ensure on-time delivery.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Customer-centric, self-starter and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Accurate data entry skills, basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of routing software a plus
  • Knowledge of warehouse safety regulations preferred

Experience:

  • Six months of related transportation and warehouse experience
  • Experience operating a rider and electric pallet jack, stand-up/sit-down forklift preferred

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review the LPR to determine loading sequence and load accordingly
  • Communicate with Dispatch Coordinator with issues of routing
  • Communicate with all drivers to provide loading dock door number
  • Establish loading temperature and notate on the invoice
  • Stage and load product utilizing material handling equipment and verify capacity via truck payload
  • Unload inbound product and assist the warehouse team as needed
  • Complete required checklist, before operation of material handling equipment, and ensure supervisor signs off after use
  • Ensure cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of facility following appropriate NTFB food safety and personnel safety policies and procedures
  • Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards in accordance with all applicable policies and procedures
  • Complete any necessary equipment trainings as mandated
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned

MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • The person in this position needs to be able to read; communicate verbally and/or in written form; remember and analyze certain information and remember and understand certain instructions or guidelines.
  • The person in this position needs to adapt well in the face of workplace stressors, such as customer complaints, meeting deadlines, compliance offenses and completing priorities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to successfully operate forklift trucks, as well as manual or electric pallet jacks, following completion of required training

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

  • Moderate to loud noise (e.g., medium to heavy traffic in the warehouse with forklifts and pallet jacks)
  • This person should have the ability to work in varying internal (hot and cold) temperature levels in the warehouse, including cooler and freezer areas; may assist occasionally outdoors
  • Work schedule is Monday - Friday 4:00am – 12:30pm, with occasional Saturdays
