What We Look For In a Latin 1 Tutor

Guides students through parsing verb forms, identifying noun cases in context, translating simple Latin passages, and recognizing English derivatives from Latin roots. Emphasizes systematic grammar learning and connects Latin to understanding English vocabulary, Romance language foundations, and Roman history and mythology.
  • Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with Latin 1 curricula and common challenges such as memorizing declension and conjugation paradigms, understanding the case system, and developing translation strategies. Adapts instruction using paradigm charts, vocabulary root analysis, and graded Latin readings to support beginning Latin students at the middle school, high school, or college level building foundational skills.
  • Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
