Job description

Field Engineer - Transit Technology
Remote 2 Open Positions: Sacramento & Houston 50% Travel Required
Compensation: $100k - $110k base + bonus + benefits
Are you passionate about technology and helping your community?.
1About the Role
GMV designs and supports technology used every day by public transit agencies across the U.S., including driver interfaces, dispatch communications, passenger counters, and real-time information systems. We are looking for a Field Engineer to support our transit customers directly in the field, helping agencies deploy, troubleshoot, and get the most out of GMV's technology.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing role. You will spend significant time on-site with transit agencies, working alongside Project Managers, Field Services, Software Engineering, and Product teams to resolve issues and support successful deployments.
To learn more about the US-based intelligent transportation systems division of GMV, visit www.gmvtransit.com.
2 What You'll Do
  • Serve as the on-site technical point of contact for transit agency customers.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot GMV hardware and software systems.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (Project Management, Procurement, Production, Field Services, Software Engineering, Product) to resolve field issues.
  • Provide technical training and support to agency staff.
  • Document field issues and feed insights back to product and engineering teams.
  • Travel to customer sites as needed (50% of time).

3 What We're Looking For
  • Experience in field engineering, technical support, or systems integration (transit, transportation, or public-sector technology experience is a plus, not a requirement).
  • Comfort working independently and traveling frequently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work hands-on with hardware and software in real-world, sometimes imperfect field conditions.
  • A genuine interest in public service and improving transit for riders.
4 Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary: $100,000-$110,000, plus 12% bonus.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 3 weeks of Paid Time Off.
  • Flexible hours and location (remote-based, with regular travel).
  • A small, close-knit team with a strong sense of mission.
