Pay Rate: $21.91 with annual increases

May work in Hesperia or Barstow

Core Competencies / Responsibilities

  • Punctuality
  • Be neatly groomed and uniformed
  • Perform vehicle Pre-Trip Inspection
  • Complete Pre-Trip Inspection Report and deposit copy
  • Report any corrections to Dispatch and or Maintenance Supervisor
  • Operate his/her vehicle in a safe and courteous manner at all times
  • Observe and obey all posted speed limits and traffic laws
  • Maintain a current Commercial Driver’s License current, DOT Card
  • Report any changes in their driving record immediately upon change
  • Document all times, passenger counts, incidents, or any other information requested
  • Assist passengers with luggage, carriages and other bulky items to ensure safe transport
  • Assist with ADA passengers to ensure safe transport
  • Will follow all safety requirements as instructed by safety manager
  • Other duties as required 

Knowledge and Experience 

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Verifiable CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) with a Passenger Endorsement
  • 5 years of driving experience preferred; 3 years required which must be verifiable through DMV
  • Must be able to pass a Federal background check which includes lifetime search and fingerprint which will need to be verified by State Police
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test and DOT physical
  • Customer service experience a plus
  • High degree of comfort working with people with disabilities
  • Possess excellent communication (written and verbal) and decision-making skills
  • Must be able and willing to work a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends and holidays

  • Operators/Drivers may work inside or outside vehicles and may operate vehicles for over 8 hours per day.
  • Operations Supervisors and Managers may split their work between an office setting looking at a computer screen/electronic device and active transit field locations driving in a vehicle.
  • Maintenance Employees may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals in a ventilated maintenance shop and may work with personal computers, laptops, electronic hand-held devices, complex electrical schematics, diagnostic software and testing devices, and other heavy machinery.
  • Office Staff may work indoors in air-conditioned or well-ventilated facilities, including offices and cubicle spaces equipped with a telephone and computer and may entail typing or looking at a computer screen.
