  1. Drive gasoline, or diesel, powered multi-passenger vehicles to transport students between neighborhoods, schools, and school activities. Transportation of students should be done in a safe, courteous manner by the prescribed routes and schedules as assigned.

  1. Take roll call for all assigned transportation. Transports only authorized students.

  1. Perform daily vehicle safety and operational checks. Prepares and submits reports as required

  1. Comply with traffic regulations in order to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.

  1. Follow safety rules as students are boarding and exiting buses, and as they cross streets near bus stops.

  1. Pick up and drop off students at regularly scheduled neighborhood locations, following strict time schedules.

  1. Read maps, and follow written and verbal geographic directions.

  1. Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilation systems for passenger comfort.

  1. Manages student behavior in a positive and effective manner when students are on bus. Reports student behavioral problems to the appropriate building principal.

  1. Maintains all assigned vehicles in a clean, presentable manner.

  1. Maintains knowledge of first-aid procedures.

  1. Checks all assigned vehicles daily to be sure they have adequate fuel and oil and that proper servicing is being performed. Performs pre-driving inspections as required by law.

  1. Maintains all assigned vehicles in a safe, operational condition and reports any deficiencies. Assists in performing vehicle safety mechanical checks.

  1. Exercises responsible leadership when on out of district school trips.

  1. Performs other tasks, as directed, by the Superintendent or Supervisor of Transportation.
