Job description

Summary
We are seeking a reliable and dedicated individual to join our team as a part-time bus driver at Marshall Academy for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, ensuring a positive and secure environment during transit. This role requires excellent driving skills, a commitment to safety, and a passion for working with children. Marshall Academy maintains a commitment to having a driver and aide on all of its routes. The bus driver is the authority on the bus and is assisted by an aide for additional eyes, ears, and student support. Our routes include KG through 12th grade students on a combined bus. We have routes throughout Albion, Battle Creek, and Marshall. Hours are 6:00 - 8:00 AM and 3:00 - 5:00 PM.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a school bus, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Transport students to and from school, extracurricular activities, and special events as scheduled.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in safe operating condition.
- Maintain a clean and organized bus interior.
- Monitor student behavior during transit and enforce safety rules.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
- Report any incidents, accidents, or mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Attend training sessions and meetings as required.
- Assist students with boarding and disembarking as needed, ensuring their safety at all times.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a passenger endorsement.
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
- Previous experience driving a bus or working with children preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- Availability to work early morning and afternoon shifts, with flexibility for additional hours as needed.
