Job description

Transit Vehicle Operator

Safety sensitive position regulated under the Department of Transportation. Estimated to work an average of approximately 20 hrs. per week. Transit operations are based on a Monday through Friday and 1/2-day Saturday schedule, closed Sundays. Starting pay $22.9444/hr.

Examples of Duties
  • Responsible for driving transit vehicles on an assigned route following all applicable regulations and laws;
  • Drives charters within Daviess County when assigned;
  • Provides courteous and timely service to transit and trolley customers;
  • Responsible for maintaining clean vehicles and bus shelters.
Typical Qualifications

Qualifications required at time of application: 1) High School Diploma or GED; or minimum 3 months work-related experience as a bus driver or similar position; or equivalent amount of education and experience; 2) Valid Driver's License; Valid CDL, Class B or higher, with P (Passenger) endorsement required after hire; 3) Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 lbs., assist disabled passengers, and perform all other demands of the job satisfactorily; 4) Minimum age 18
