Job description

What Your Day Will Look Like:

As a transit rail phase execution construction manager, you will plan, coordinate, and execute complex transit rail construction phases for Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) capital projects. You`ll provide leadership for all aspects of construction execution, including work sequencing, outage planning, contractor coordination, stakeholder engagement, safety compliance, quality management, cost control, and schedule performance. You'll oversee construction activities occurring within active rail corridors and operating facilities, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently while minimizing impacts to revenue service, passengers, and system operations. This role serves as a primary liaison between project teams, contractors, BART Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Safety, and external stakeholders throughout all phases of project delivery.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead development and implementation of construction phasing strategies for transit rail infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate execution plans that support construction activities within active operating rail environments.
  • Manage constructability reviews, work packages, staging plans, and site logistics.
  • Coordinate track access, outages, shutdowns, and work windows with Operations and Maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure successful execution of project milestones while minimizing impacts to rail operations and passengers.
  • Monitor contractor performance and compliance with approved work plans.
  • Manage construction activities from pre-construction through project closeout.
  • Oversee project scope, schedule, budget, and risk management activities.
  • Evaluate and recommend solutions to construction challenges, field conflicts, and unforeseen conditions.
  • Assist with change order negotiations and claims resolution.
  • Review and monitor contractor schedules and recovery plans.
  • Prepare executive-level progress reports and presentations.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, Transportation Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible construction management experience involving transportation, rail, transit, heavy civil, or infrastructure projects.
  • 5+ years managing complex multi-phased construction projects in active operational environments.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, engineering teams, operations personnel, and public agency stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of construction management principles, cost controls, scheduling, and contract administration.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Salary Range: $175-$250
