Position Title: Engineering Support Aide, Emerging Talent Intern
Hourly Rate: $19.00 (Undergraduate)
All internship positions are onsite and require regular, in-person attendance at the designated work location.
OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT:
The Elevators & Escalators Division keeps our subway system in motion through proactive maintenance and innovative solutions, with the primary goal of ensuring our riders experience consistently available, accessible, safe, and reliable elevators and escalators. Within our stations and facilities, we manage 359+ elevators, including those maintained by third-party contractors, along with 230 escalators. Additionally, we are responsible for the oversight of 38 non-public elevators. We recognize the critical role our elevators and escalators play in facilitating the movement of millions of individuals daily and making our system accessible to those who need it, so every action we take is guided by our core values of safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide insights and recommendations to support the technical requirements with internal stakeholders.
  • Install project specific software and files onto to laptops and shared drives.
  • Work on a tracking system for inventory deliverables (i.e., CDs, O&M manuals, tools).
  • Coordinate the digitization of existing O&M manuals with third party contractor.
  • Maintain records and files.
  • Review equipment drawings and specifications. Provide feedback to project managers.
  • Learn about engineering systems and processes.
  • Work on special projects and support with ad hoc analysis within the department.

PROJECTS:
  • Under the supervision of experienced engineers, contribute to the ongoing elevator and escalator projects.
  • Gather, collect and organize data relevant to engineering tasks.
  • Reviewing equipment drawings to ensure it aligns with rider's experience of consistently available, accessible, safe, and reliable escalators and elevators.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
  • The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills.
  • The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA.
  • Major(s) Preferred: Computer Science, Business Administration, Management of Technology, Architecture & Engineering, Information Science, Data Science, or related field.
