Job description

Job Title: Materials Planner - Fan SystemsJob Description
The Materials Planner - Fan Systems translates customer demand, forecasts, and production requirements into clear, executable production and shipping plans for Fan Systems built by contract manufacturers. This role owns the planning and scheduling interface with U.S.-based Fan Systems contract manufacturers, ensuring consigned motors and contract manufacturer-purchased components are available to meet customer commitments. The planner maintains end-to-end visibility of demand, supply, inventory, material shortages, and production schedules, proactively identifying and resolving gaps before they affect customer deliveries. This position plays a high-visibility role in a sustainability-driven organization that is transforming the motor industry with advanced, energy-efficient technologies.
Responsibilities
  • Translate customer orders, forecasts, and demand plans into executable Fan Systems production and shipping schedules for contract manufacturers.
  • Review supply and demand exceptions, including shortages, excess supply, and rescheduling recommendations, and convert them into clear action plans.
  • Develop and maintain weekly and monthly production requirements and build schedules for Fan Systems contract manufacturers by product and required completion date, in coordination with the contract manufacturer buyer and inside sales.
  • Review contract manufacturer production schedules against internal requirements and identify capacity, material, or execution gaps, driving recovery actions when schedules are at risk.
  • Monitor schedule adherence and maintain visibility of planned versus actual contract manufacturer output, customer requirements, and available supply.
  • Plan replenishment of motors manufactured in internal operations and consigned to Fan Systems contract manufacturers based on demand, production schedules, inventory levels, lead times, and Kanban or replenishment parameters.
  • Monitor consigned motor inventory at contract manufacturers, inventory in transit, and future internal production requirements to prevent build disruptions.
  • Coordinate closely with the contract manufacturer buyer, internal manufacturing, materials planning, logistics, and import/export teams to ensure required motors are produced, shipped, received, and available at contract manufacturers when needed.
  • Maintain visibility of contract manufacturer-purchased components required to execute the Fan Systems production schedule, including on-hand inventory and future requirements.
  • Assess custom orders to determine whether required motors and components are available, then schedule production based on capacity and material availability.
  • Identify when missing parts can be procured and how soon production can be scheduled, balancing lead times, safety stock, and customer delivery expectations.
  • Use ERP/MRP systems and advanced Excel tools to analyze large data sets, manage material plans, and support data-driven scheduling decisions.
  • Identify potential shortages early, establish recovery plans, and escalate risks before they impact production or customer deliveries.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including sales, manufacturing, supply chain, and external partners, maintaining disciplined follow-through on commitments.
  • Support the scaling of the Fan Systems planning and contract manufacturing operating model, contributing to continuous improvement in planning processes and tools.
  • Leverage data visualization and planning/reporting automation tools, where applicable, to improve visibility and decision-making across the supply chain.
Essential Skills
  • 3+ years of experience in materials planning, production planning, production control, supply chain, or manufacturing operations.
  • Bachelor's degree required, with flexibility to supplement formal education with relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience planning materials and production scheduling in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of MRP logic, bills of material (BOMs), inventory management, lead times, safety stock, production scheduling, and supply/demand balancing.
  • Experience coordinating production requirements with contract manufacturers, suppliers, or external manufacturing partners.
  • Strong ERP/MRP experience, with NetSuite or Oracle preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, data analysis, and management of large data sets.
  • Detail-oriented approach and strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex demand and supply information into clear, actionable plans.
  • Proven ability to identify shortages, establish recovery plans, and escalate risks before they impact production or customers.
  • Strong cross-functional communication and stakeholder management skills with disciplined follow-through.
  • Experience with Fan Systems, HVAC equipment, motors, electromechanical assemblies, or similar engineered products.
  • Experience managing planning and scheduling requirements across contract manufacturers.
  • Experience with manufacturing operations spanning the United States and Mexico.
  • Familiarity with Kanban and consigned-material replenishment models.
  • Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems such as Arena and ECO/MCO processes.
  • Experience with Power BI, DAX, and planning or reporting automation tools.
  • APICS certifications such as CPIM or CSCP, or similar supply chain certifications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Oracle or NetSuite ERP/MRP experience preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
  • APICS CPIM, CSCP, or similar supply chain certification is highly valued.
  • Exposure to advanced product design and manufacturing execution environments.
  • Interest in working within a sustainability-driven organization focused on innovative motor technologies.
  • Motivation to grow a career in manufacturing supply chain and planning, including exposure to cutting-edge supply chain technologies.
