Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation information

What is transcranial magnetic stimulation?

A Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) job involves administering non-invasive brain stimulation therapy to patients, typically for depression and other mental health disorders. TMS technicians or coordinators operate specialized equipment that delivers magnetic pulses to targeted areas of the brain. Responsibilities may include patient preparation, monitoring sessions, documenting treatment progress, and ensuring patient safety. These roles often require training or certification in TMS procedures, along with experience in healthcare or mental health settings.

What does a typical day look like for a professional administering transcranial magnetic stimulation?

A typical day for a TMS professional involves preparing equipment, reviewing patient treatment plans, administering TMS sessions, monitoring patient reactions, and documenting session outcomes. You may also conduct patient assessments, ensure safety protocols are followed, and communicate progress to supervising clinicians or other healthcare team members. The role often includes answering patient questions and providing reassurance throughout the process. Depending on the facility, you might also assist in scheduling appointments and maintaining accurate records. Collaboration with psychiatrists, neurologists, or other mental health professionals is common to ensure comprehensive patient care.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in transcranial magnetic stimulation, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) role, you typically need a background in healthcare or neuroscience, along with experience in clinical procedures and patient care. Familiarity with TMS devices, safety protocols, and potentially a certification in TMS administration or related neurotherapeutic techniques is often required. Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide emotional support to patients are highly valued. These competencies are crucial to ensuring safe, effective treatment and a positive patient experience in a specialized clinical setting.

About this position

Dallas, Houston, or Austin Texas (onsite/hybrid outpatient role — not fully remote)

Deep Centered Mental Health is making a small, intentional addition to our psychiatry team and is seeking a psychiatrist who values thoughtful, patient‑centered care within a highly collaborative outpatient practice.

This role is designed for psychiatrists who want to practice beyond high‑volume medication management and build meaningful longitudinal relationships with patients while working alongside a strong interdisciplinary team.

We integrate psychiatry, psychotherapy, and interventional treatments within one coordinated clinical model. Psychiatrists collaborate closely with an in‑house network of more than 220 therapists within our organization, allowing for seamless referrals, warm handoffs, and integrated patient care.

This opportunity is particularly well suited for psychiatrists interested in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Spravato® (esketamine), psychotherapy integration, and the ability to prioritize quality of care over volume.

Position Highlights
  • Access to Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Spravato® (esketamine) services for treatment‑resistant conditions
  • 60‑minute psychiatric evaluations with flexible follow‑up lengths (30/45/60 minutes)
  • Opportunity to incorporate psychotherapy into practice if desired
  • Collaborative in‑house therapy network supporting coordinated patient care
  • Ability to work with adults and/or children & adolescents
  • Optional involvement in clinical research through our Clinical Research Outcomes Center (CROC)
  • Optional APP supervision opportunities
  • No nights, weekends, or call responsibilities
  • Strong operational and administrative support
  • Uncapped earning potential: $280K–$400K+
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Malpractice insurance with tail coverage
  • Paid CME and ongoing professional development
  • Opportunities to supervise APPs with a generous stipend.
Your Role

Evaluate and Diagnose: Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and accurately diagnose mental health conditions. This is an in‑clinic opportunity.

Develop Tailored Treatment Plans: Craft personalized treatment strategies that may include psychotherapy, medications, and lifestyle modifications.

Educate and Empower: Guide patients and their families through understanding their mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.

Collaborate Effectively: Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to manage patient care and contribute to research that advances interventional treatment.
