Job Description
Brown Advisory is currently seeking a proactive, visionary and professional individual to join our firm as a Cash Management Analyst focused on overseeing the organizations money movement strategy and the execution of all client cash related transactions globally for Brown Advisory. This candidate will be primarily responsible for the execution, and ownership of all aspects of cash processing for Brown Advisory including, but not limited to: core client money movement (Fed wire, ACH, check), client collateral loans and lending functions, Family Office based money movements, and client call-back verification. Furthermore, the Cash Management Analyst will maintain a critical role in the enforcement of fraud prevention measures for client transactions. The Cash Management Analyst will also collaborate with, and build partnerships with groups including Operations, the Private Client business, Legal and Compliance, Information Technology, and Executive Management to develop value-add processes and continuously innovate the core functional area.
A successful candidate will be a proven self-starter with an owner/operator mentality who must bring strong accountability, knowledge and detail-orientation to the organization. In addition, ideal candidates will be familiar with money movement and/or treasury functions for third parties and clients.
Duties and Responsibilities
DIRECT CASH PROCESSING
  • Apply internal policy and procedural reviews to client cash movements.
  • Ability to leverage strong technical and subject-matter expertise to both validate and authenticate client money movements, as well as uphold risk mitigation controls. Required to read and interpret account governing documentation in an effort to validate authorized cash approvers.
  • Exercise appropriate judgement to manage firm AML and KYC requirements in a variety of scenarios, including those outside of defined system parameters. Take specific action based on judgement of individual scenarios.
  • Ensure adherence to client money rules and AML regulations by evaluating and assessing individual transactions.
  • Monitor all cash payment queues, and perform reconciliation to verify completion with our custodian partners. Act on exceptions that occur based on order of importance.
  • Track and resolve fail transactions with custodians and counterparties. Exercise independent judgement in escalation to internal clients, assessing urgency and prioritizing accordingly.
  • Under the direction of management, assist with the updating of policies and procedures in line with recurring reviews.
  • Assist with the implementation of a new client call-back verification process, as well as perform ongoing execution of said process on a daily basis.

CLIENT BILL PAY
  • Assist the Client Service Team with creation of Letter of Authorizations or other required forms necessary to facilitate bill pay services.
  • Process payments and monitor successful disbursement of funds to the payee.
  • Track and report activity in line with client needs.

CASH MANAGEMENT
  • Printing, handling and check disbursement to our client services teams.
  • Execute and review private equity and hedge fund capital activity for all clients.
  • Execute and review collateral and margin account coding for all clients with credit activity.
  • Track and resolve client overdrafts in partnership with our Client Service team and custodian partners.
  • Travel to multiple Brown Advisory locations to build relationships with end users of cash management systems and tools.
  • Participation in projects and special assignments, as requested on a periodic basis.

Job Requirements
  • 2-3 years of work experience in related financial field preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree (Finance or Accounting Preferred)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team and key stakeholders
  • Ability to handle confidential material with utmost discretion
  • Ability to work independently and on several assignments simultaneously
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and works well under pressure
  • Highly organized and detailed oriented
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to travel
  • Outlook, Word, Excel and PPT skills required
  • Demonstrates curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, improve efficiency, and thoughtfully leverage new technologies and tools, including AI-enabled productivity solutions
  • Ability to work in an office location.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency and experience with workflow systems, including PegaSystems, is preferred
  • Applied leadership skills desired

Salary: $60-$70k. Commensurate with experience and location. Does not include bonus or long term incentive eligibility (if applicable).
