Position Overview: 

CDL Trainees will learn to utilize safe driving techniques and defensive driving skills while obeying local, state, and federal transit regulations as well as observing all vehicle and traffic laws.




General Responsibilities: 

  • Adheres to all local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for the utilization of safe driving always to reduce and eliminate accidents.
  • Ensures proper pick up and drop off passengers at designated bus stops.
  • Responsible for informing the Company in regarding on the road occurrences within a timely manner.
  • Responsible for proper documentation of faulty equipment during the utilization of assigned vehicle.

Position Qualifications: 

  • Required a minimum High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Must have and maintain an excellent driving record and a Commercial Driver Permit class A or B.
  • Must have 5 years of driving experience.
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical examination.
  • Must be able to safely operate a bus in all weather conditions, including snow, rain, sleet, and wind.
  • Must be able to successfully complete the Commercial Driver License (CDL) Training Program.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

  • Ability to climb stairs, reaches above shoulder level, walk extended distance, stand, kneel, sit in a sedentary position for an undefined amount of time.
  • Ability to work in an environment with dust, fumes, exhaust, various noise levels, various temperatures, indoor and outdoor weather conditions for an undefined amount of time.
  • Ability to comprehend, read, write, and converse in English.
  • Ability to bend, lift, push and pull, up to 30 lbs. without assistance.
  • Ability to use all bus operating equipment.
