Trainee Travel Expense Auditor Jobs (NOW HIRING)

The Job San Bernardino County is recruiting for Accountant/Auditor Trainees who work under the supervision of higher-level accountants or auditors while developing the required knowledge and skills to independently perform journey-level accounting or auditing duties. Essential duties include preparing and analyzing accounting and financial statements, making adjusting entries in several subsystems of a departmental accounting system, and performing specialized accounting functions such as tax or cost accounting; performs compliance and operational audits; prepares audit reports with findings and recommendations. The resulting eligible list may also be used to fill future vacancies throughout the County as they occur. Auditing Pay Differential - 2.0% above base rate of pay. (ATC/HS only) Certified Public Accountant Stipend - $750 annual CPA stipend for employees who attain and maintain a valid CPA License

The Special Districts Department is a separate entity from San Bernardino County, and as such, compensation and benefits for their positions are set forth in a different compensation plan. The salary for Special Districts Accountant I (Special Districts) is $48,068 - $64,750 annually (range 21T). Accountant I (Special Districts) is the trainee level within the accounting series; incumbents are eligible for promotion to Accountant II (Special Districts) ($63,148 - $91,436 annually (range 32)) upon successful completion of a training program and receipt of a satisfactory work performance evaluation.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Travel: A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Mileage reimbursement and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained.

Background: Candidates selected for this position must pass a background investigation and medical examination including drug screening. Promotion: Accountant/Auditor Trainee is the trainee level within the accounting series; incumbents are eligible for promotion to Accountant/Auditor ($63,585.60 - $89,564) upon successful completion of a training program and receipt of a satisfactory work performance evaluation. Incumbents must promote within 24 months or be terminated

Minimum Requirements CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: EDUCATION Must possess a completed/awarded bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics OR a bachelor's degree in another field which must include 30 semester (45 quarter) units of completed college coursework in accounting. (Transcripts with qualifying coursework is required if degree is in another field.) **No experience required.** IMPORTANT NOTES: Transcripts MUST be attached if qualifying with a degree in another field or you may submit them to employment@hr.sbcounty.gov by the deadline

EDUCATION Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education
