This role is intended for full-time graduate students enrolled in a PhD program. Doctoral students receive a fellowship award, including a stipend, as financial support for their graduate studies. The doctoral student conducts research activities directly related to the field of study for which the PhD degree will be conferred, and such research is required of all students as a condition of earning the degree. The primary purpose of this research is to further the student's education and training, culminating in the completion and defense of a doctoral dissertation or thesis. Under the mentorship and supervision of a faculty advisor, the doctoral student gains experience in research methodologies, study design, data analysis, scholarly communication, and academic collaboration.

Job Duties

• Design and execute experiments relevant to student's thesis research project, following established protocols and safety guidelines
• Collect, record, and analyze experimental data using appropriate statistical and computational tools
• Prepare and present research findings at lab meetings, departmental seminars, and conferences. Assist with manuscript preparation for publication in peer reviewed journals, poster presentations, and grant applications.
• Collaborate with faculty researchers, postdoctoral trainees, and other students on research project design and execution

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree Biomedical or basic science area of study

Additional Qualifications

• Accepted into or enrolled in PhD biomedical or basic science program within the Jefferson College of Life Sciences
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Physical Demands
Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
