Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Dealer:
  • Create and ensure a fun-filled, entertaining and exciting environment for the guests.
  • Deal assigned games and control pace of game, adhere to game protection and Grand Sierra Resort & Casino dealing procedures.

Supervisor:
  • Coach, instruct and direct dealers in proper procedures of appropriate aspects of table games operations including but not limited to correction of errors and following of rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Ensure that dealers are providing prompt, accurate, and courteous service to guests, utilizing the highest degree of technical skill in dealing while adhering to established standard policies and procedures.
  • Track and document play including but not limited to buy-in, average bets, time played and win/loss.
  • Use a computer to perform player rating process, review credit/marker requests and to request a fill/credit, or to review remarks screen.
  • Requires mental effort to determine winning/losing wagers, calculate bet payoffs, approve Casino credit, resolve disputes and guests' issues.
  • Must read game layout; wagers, winning/losing wagers, etc., and read computer monitor and reports for extended periods of time.
  • Mentally perform mathematical operations quickly and accurately to approve payoffs, verify shift/player/table win/loss. Perform multiple tasks as necessary.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, may have to work extended hours, and during periods of high business volume.
  • Contact surveillance and/or shift manager if questionable transactions have occurred and/or at appropriate win/loss levels.
  • Monitor and maintain the integrity of all games in assigned section, both at the dealer and guest levels.
  • Ensures that the Table Games pit and assigned games always meet the highest level of cleanliness.
  • Verifies cheque inventories for opening and closing of games.
  • Adhere to all game controls and procedures (as outlined in the dealer and supervisor department manual) and ensure dealers comply with same.
  • Comply with all State gaming rules and regulations.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • A high school diploma and some college preferred.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain a valid gaming license.
  • Know and comply with all Gaming Regulations.
  • Minimum of one year's experience as a Table Games Dealer or a combination of education and/or experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for satisfactory job performance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members and Management in English both written and verbally.
  • Must offer the highest possible level of guest service resulting in a maximum level of player enjoyment and return play.
  • Thorough knowledge of Blackjack, Carnival games, Roulette and at least one of the following: Craps, Baccarat, Pai Gow Tiles.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Table Games Dealer and 1 year of supervisory experience or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
  • Must be able to maintain appropriate Gaming License & Alcohol Awareness card.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member must be able to maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work in a fast-paced, casino environment and effectively deal with guests, management, team members and others.
  • Is regularly required to sit; stand; walk and move through all areas of the casino; speak and hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • May reach with hands and arms above shoulder level; bend/stoop, squat, balance, kneel, lift and push/pull.
  • The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance visions, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
