The Sterile Processing Technician collects, cleans, decontaminates, disinfects and/or sterilizes surgical instruments, trays and packs, reusable medical devices and patient care equipment according to established standards and procedures to ensure sterile and functioning supply of materials and equipment.
The Sterile Processing Trainee is a trainee position. Incumbents will be engaged in trainee duties that may lead to the full performance level of a Sterile Processing Technician.
Schedule for this position is 3:00pm-11:30pm.
Starting hourly rate $19.29 for the Sterile Processing Technician Trainee position.
Starting hourly rate $21.28 for the Sterile Processing Technician position.Qualifications:Required Education and Experience for Sterile Processing Technician
Certification Requirement
1. Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management); or
2. Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD); or
3. An equivalent certification from a nationally accredited central service technician credentialing organization recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma.
NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Incumbents must obtain certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management); or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD); or an equivalent certification from a nationally accredited central service technician credentialing organization recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center within one (1) year of appointment to this title as a condition of continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will be CRCST or CBSPD certified and have sterile processing experience. The preferred candidate should have basic computer skills and have excellent communication skills.
